MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT & PAST PRESIDENT, CONGRESS CHAIRMAN
Prof Julio Acero & Prof Jean-Paul Meningaud
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
As you know, the Executive Committee of the European Association for Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery took the decision due to the serious coronavirus pandemic situation to postpone the 25th EACMFS Congress from September 2020 to 14th-16th July 2021. Keeping our commitment to offer a great scientific activity but always taking into account the basic principle for the preservation of the health and safety of our members and guests, the EACMFS Executive Committee considered that a face-to-face Congress in a classic format would not be possible. It was therefore decided to maintain the Congress with a hybrid format in which the scientific content could be provided virtually on-line whilst trying to maintain a certain face-to-face activity in Paris. The response has been incredible, having received more than 2000 abstracts to be evaluated for presentation during the Congress.
The Executive Committee has continued close monitoring of the situation and unfortunately given the negative evolution of the pandemic at this time we have considered that the activity of the Congress should only be in an online format as an in-person meeting in Paris is not currently possible. The updated scientific program will be available very soon including the previously accepted lectures and symposia but in virtual format. Only if circumstances allow, we will try to offer a limited official or scientific activity transmitted from the Congress venue in Paris although, unfortunately, attendance in person will not be possible.
Our sincere gratitude to our members, speakers, and exhibitors for their constant support, together with the Executive Committee and the Organizing Secretariat for the effort in these difficult circumstances.
Looking forward to meeting you online for a memorable 25th EACMFS Congress in July 2021.
Prof. Julio Acero
Prof. Jean-Paul Meningaud
